When I begin working with my clients, this is the number one question we start with. And the answer is not as simple as the most expensive resort is the best and the least expensive resort is the worst. What really matters is what the best fit is for your family and how do you want to vacation.
Below are the three different categories of Walt Disney World Resorts and as someone who has stayed in every resort with the exception of 4, I definitely can share which one I think will be the best for your travel party as we begin to plan.
Deluxe Resorts are truly magical! They are located near the theme parks, have wonderful amenities such as multiple pools with slides, restaurants on site, and rooms can hold large groups. They have 1, 2, and 3-bedroom villas and many have theme park views to watch the fireworks.
One feature is the transportation and proximity to the parks. This is great for multigenerational families or travelers with small children. This lends itself to naps and pool breaks in the afternoon that are easy and convenient. Many of the deluxe resorts also feature themed lounges that are perfect to end the evening.
Moderate Resorts have some great room options that are great for families of 4-5 guests. The rooms are have a themed with subtle Disney flare or
Disney Moderate Resorts offer a nice balance between value and added amenities. You’ll find themed pools, restaurants, larger rooms than the Value Resorts, and beautiful grounds to explore—all while staying in the Disney bubble.
They’re a great option if you want a little more from your resort without moving into the Deluxe price range.
Value Resorts are themed resorts that have a fun atmosphere. Families enjoy the pools and some of the value resorts have rooms that can sleep up to 6 guests. Each value resort has a quick service restaurant and gift shop for those cute Mickey Ears! The rooms at the resorts are great for those who will be spending more time in the parks or need a place to spend the day before their Disney Cruise Line sailing.
